here’s the first of a few photographs. they are hosted on tinypic.com and I’ve put the tag cissbury05 so anyone can search for them by tag.

ok another batch, here we are working round to the northern rampart:

^Neolithic flint mine pits pock mark the interior of the western side. During a discreet visit into the bushes, I’m pretty sure I saw a rare Adonis Blue butterfly. Unfortunately it didn’t open up it’s wings to fly, but I’ve seen one before up on the Hambledon Hill iron age hill fort so I’m reasonably certain it was.

Great pictures, Pete ![](https://ourpasthistory.com/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif)
560 pixel width is a good size for me, it means I don’t have to hit the ‘Fit to Window Width’ button every time I look at a thread with photos on it ![](https://ourpasthistory.com/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif)

The what??? (Seriously, a brief answer in the geek section would be very welcome – sounds like a useful button to have in one’s repertoire!)_________________

pics weren’t bad were they and I’ve not done any cropping they are ‘as is’? especially since it was so hazy and I nearly didn’t attempt the distance landscape shots at all. {re geeky matters: I can’t get firefox to refit large images to window, don’t know where that trick is hiding…} Eileen showed you our late lunch in the pub ~
then, as we drove back into London on the A2, it really deserved the name of the Big Smoke as there was a real photochemical smog hanging over the city. it made the setting sun look amazing and Eileen grabbed her camera so I did the same. I don’t know how much luck she had, some of mine were badly shaken but a couple of them were quite good and would improve further if well cropped. The best views came and went too quickly for the delayed action of the digital camera.
a final reminder, you can find all this set of pix by searching on tag ‘cissbury05’ on image host http://tinypic.com/

Funny how the only ones that worked out were almost identical. Yours are a bit more zoomed in, mine need to be cropped to re-compose them. The time delay to focus calculate and shoot made the digital camera a failure on the brief opportunities to get a shot – it’s one case a conventional old slr camera would have been better._________________

I just thought I’d point out my new Tilley hat to be admired. claimed to be guaranteed indestructible especially if bunged in the machine to wash any sweat out of it. They’re from Canada but available in many sports goods shops.

the ‘owners manual’ is quite a hoot to read:
