As mentioned elsewhere, some of us are planning a trip to Portsmouth on Saturday 3 June 2006. Anyone who wants to come along is very welcome. There is a huge amount to do in Portsmouth, notably

The Historic Dockyard, incl the Mary Rose

Fort Nelson Portchester Castle The Guildhall Southsea Museums

The Spinnaker

Clearly we’ll not get round the lot but there’s enough of a selection to tempt differing interests. It’s free to get into the Dockyard but, a warning here, it does cost to visit much of what’s there, like Mary Rose. You may want to browse the two websites below to get a feel for what’s available and to check out the prices. Depending on how many folk want to come, I shall probably suggest we meet at the Dockyard, maybe visit something in which we’re all interested, then leave it to folk to wander off to do their own thing after lunch. (I haven’t looked at accommodation in the area yet, but even if there aren’t any decent YHAs there are Travelodges in the area) So is anyone interested? Websites for Portsmouth generally and for the Historic Dockyard in particular are:

www.portsmouth-guide.co.uk
www.flagship.org.uk

One last thing. You may know from another place that Jim/Space Cadet/Marthas Madman was to be getting married and moving to the States with Lisa and Sporglet. This trip was partly to give him a good send off. The move doesn’t look as though it’ll happen now, but, hey, it’s still and excuse to party!
