Hm. Now I’ve reached the end, I’m not sure I’d recommend it. It’s a cross between James Bond and Indiana Jones, without the humour and with little ability to create characters we really care about. The focus on treasure is relentless. Gold gleams from almost every chapter. He provides loads of gadgets, gizmos and gore, a beautiful Russian for the hero, and a Bond-type villain, with fantasy headquarters. So he may hope someone will snap up the film rights. Somehow I doubt it. The underlying thesis tries to wrap too much into one glittery parcel. It doesn’t work for me._________________
