I was born in Folkestone, Kent and love all things creative! After getting involved with school plays, amateur theatre, I went on to study for B.A.(Hons) in combined studies (Drama, History, English and Interpersonal Psychology ) at Nene College, Northampton. Within 2 weeks of leaving, I married my fiance, Des, graduated, and moved to Colchester .
My love for theatre increased, and I became involved in 4 local theatre groups, where I acted, stage-managed and “propped” I’ve also been a check-out assistant, waitress, schools worker and self-trained florist !
From my teens, I’ve always loved archaeology, but have never actually got round to studying it in great depth, which I’ve always regretted, but I’ve now persuaded Des for us all to join the local archaeological society.
We have one daughter, Bethany, who’s 4,and has just started nursery; she enjoys TOTP and TT; we’ve given her a garden set for her birthday so she can help us dig in the garden! As a family we belong to a Baptist fellowship; Des preaches; I co-ordinate mid-week youth and drama/dance; we both teach in Sunday school, and will have a go at (almost!) anything! My main interest is writing and performing, and recently I had the task of providing the “creative” element for a carol concert, attended by 800 people ! I’m also in the throes of writing a script for an Easter performance, that is, if Beth lets me get on with it !
My knowledge of archaeology is fairly limited, but I’ve got heaps of enthusiasm, and willing to learn; TT and the Forum have given me so much to get my teeth into. Every holiday involves visits to castles and sites; Beth’s fave is Dover Castle, and I’m sure she’d love to come on a dig with her mummy !
I’m a strong believer in passing on what you’ve learnt, so that others can benefit and learn from your experiences and knowledge, whatever your field of interest and I’m so excited at the fact that we can play a part in making history, in providing, teaching and creating resources for all ages.
I also took a postgraduate diploma in acting, where I learnt how to fence ! I’m currently employed by an actor’s agency, and nearly got a job advertising Skoda! I adore red wine, “Friends”, “Cold feet” and “Ab Fab”, anything to do with chocolate Indian food and a decent cheese board!
