I was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and grew up in Spofforth village, home of the Percy family for a few centuries, and where ruins of their fortified manor house still remain, kindling my interest in history/archaeology. I now live in nearby Knaresborough
with my husband, Dave, and our 2 cats, Bodie and Rocky.
I am currently studying part time for a BA (Hons) in Local and Regional History at Leeds University. The course is excellent as along with the history modules there are also a number of class-based and field-based archaeology courses on offer. I have been on 3 fieldwork modules and had a briliant time digging on Iron Age/Romano-British and Anglo-Saxon sites, and doing landscape survey/studies in the Yorkshire Dales. Apart from University field courses I have also been on training digs at Bamburgh Castle and in York over the last couple of years. I work 4 days a week in at The British Library in Yorkshire which is very useful for my studies but once I graduate I would like to find work in field
archaeology.
As for the TTForum, I have been reading and posting for a number of years now. I enjoy the diversity of topics covered as well as meeting
like-minded people both online and in person when time allows.
In our spare time Dave and I like to go out to play in one of our 4 Land Rovers. In December 2000 we founded the Yorkshire Off Road Club with a group of good friends and the club has since gone from strength to strength with a good calendar of events and over 200 members. When time allows I involve myself in amateur dramatic productions, on stage and behind the scenes with the Harrogate Dramatic Society. I have done very little acting so far but one day when I am not so busy I hope to
explore my acting abilities further!
My other passions are real ale, Irish stout, red wine, and heavy/hard
rock music, in no particular order !
