From the BBC News

Civil War siege to be re-enacted

A major Civil War re-enactment is to be held in a Nottinghamshire town thanks to a lottery grant of £25,000. The event, to be held in April 2006, will mark the 360th anniversary of the surrender of Newark, which was a Royalist stronghold. Local history group Newark 1646 secured the money and a building society donated a further £5,000 to the scheme. Thousands of visitors are expected to watch the siege acted out, with a skirmish each day and canons firing. Over the next few months, battlements will be built in the Riverside Park, ready for the “attack” on the castle.

Young archaeologists will also be involved in some of the reconstruction work.

Time Team Forum Friends :: View topic – Trench One bites the dust

It’s a goner it seems at the end of the year, according to the forum that is C4’s. Never read it, always thought it might be a tad overpriced, only wonder in an idle way if and/or how any unfulfilled subscriptions would be compensated. I can’t imagine anyone cares much about the whys and wherefores, but Channel 4’s typically hamfisted inability to promote it or the late if hardly lamented Time Team “Club” put a nail in its coffin before it even got going. One wonders if the words “BBC Worldwide” and “raking in oodles of dosh” should be whispered quietly at the Channel 4 management board…? Hey ho. m i m_________________

The “Queens’ crown” suggests it’s either Victorian or post 1952 but then perhaps you knew that already?

Other than that I’ve not been able to discover a thing.
