You all remember the programme “The Furnace in the Cellar” broadcast in February 2002 don’t you? Yes, I thought so. You might like to know that a group was formed soon after the programme was shown and is trying to raise funds to carry out some restoration work.

Our web site is at http://www.leightonheritage.info/

There’s some more work to do on it, but it’s a start._________________

Can we have a ‘how medieval water mills worked’ thread? I presume there were a number of methods involved in the setting up of them? I know of one derelict medieval mill that has huge blocks of quarried sandstone left as remains in downstream, I took those as being used to form a dam rather than the later methods of re directing the stream. Any thoughts anybody?

I have never looked into this in depth.

Time Team Forum Friends :: View topic – Not sure if you all saw this

Hi Pam, I understand what you mean.. I now log in on the site and the set up stays the same with both columns visible. There is a lot going on in the site with a lot to look at. It took me awhile to get used to it…But once I got used to it it, it is quite easy and great fun. (I leave all of the technical stuff to the web designer, who puts in a lot of work).

I am amazed at the work that goes into running a web site. a big learning curve for me, but very interesting.

Came upon this website after following a link. I suppose its historic, but I can’t help but think that the good people of the Isle Of Sheppey lack excitement in their lives
