Like many people, we really caught the archaeology bug watching ‘Time Team’, and so did our 8 year old daughter! We joined her into the Bristol-based Young Archaeologists’ Club, and intend to join the National Club as a family next year. I’m not a university graduate and have no qualifications in archaeology, but I have a lively intelligence, a nutty sense of humour and I’m trying to build up a base of like-minded contacts involved in my areas of interest, which include music including folk (we are avid collectors of CDs), reading (crime, Lindsey Davis, Bill Bryson and much more besides), folk art, current affairs and movies. I am also writing a novel and a collection of ghost stories. At the moment I’m a stay-at-home mum, but I’m not at all ‘mumsy’! I’m really keen to get involved in archaeology locally, and to keep my daughter’s interest going in this worthwhile pursuit, increasing my own knowledge in the process.
