I was born in Hackney, London and have always told people that I was born a Cockney. Unfortunately, (some would say, fortunately) my parents moved to the Midlands before my 1st birthday and so I haven’t had a “Cockney upbringing” (whatever that means!). So far I haven’t found any definite way to prove my assumed “Cockney Heritage” one way or another. If anyone can help me to either prove or disprove my assumption then please drop me a line! I’ve been married to Monica since 1988, and we have two boys, the oldes is five years old and the youngest is just under eighteen months. We live near Lichfield in Staffordshire. We have enjoyed watching Time Team ever since Series 1 and we are both “armchair” archaeology enthusiasts. When I was at school, I didn’t enjoy History lessons at all. They left me with the impression that history was a dry, dusty, and dull subject. It seemed to be just a series of facts and figures with no depth or meaning to them. Nowadays, although my knowledge of history and archaeology is still limited, I can understand how rich history is. This would not have been the case without Time Team though! I don’t have any “special” interest in a particular period of history, and I enjoy all aspects of the periods that TT uncovers (please excuse the pun!) during the programmes. I work as a Technical Support Analyst in the IT department of a large firm within the construction sector. One of my main interests is web design and I have built a number of sites for local companies. As a result of this interest, I was responsible for the maintenance of the company web site but I now find that I don’t have time nowadays. I still continue to work on sites for friends and local businesses in my spare time. I have been researching my family history for about three years. This has also helped to stimulate my interest in history, as I try to build a picture of the context in which my ancestors lived. I enjoy listening to most forms of music (particularly rock/metal/prog) although my tastes are quite eclectic. I have been playing guitar since the late 1970s although you probably wouldn’t know it if you heard me play! When I get the chance, I also enjoy reading (mostly science fiction and fantasy novels). And last but not least, I prefer my motorcycle to a car, any day!!
